What We Do

Ducit Blue Foundation was founded with the objective of enhancing quality service delivery and patient safety in the health care industry through the use of improvement science. Our expertise cuts across patient safety solutions, research, and development, awareness, advocacy, and training on-demand. However, we are also well vested in AMR Stewardship and organize Pan-African One-health  Internships yearly.

AMR Stewardship

We use a healthcare-system-wide approach to promote and monitor the judicious use of antimicrobials to preserve their future effectiveness. The World Health Assembly’s endorsement of the Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)8 in May 2015, and the Political Declaration of the High-Level Meeting of the General Assembly on AMR in September 2017, both recognize AMR as a global threat to public health.  The Global Action Plan on AMR sets out five strategic objectives as a blueprint for countries in developing national action plans (NAPs) on AMR’. To this end, DBF is passionate about running with the objectives of World Health in tackling the challenges of AMR. A key focus of our work is on strategies to combat the global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), with global projections to result in 10 million deaths annually by 2050. Our youth productivity strategy is designed to identify talents and youth leaders, and support their innovation to proffer solutions across.

Our Internship

As part of our efforts to promote the One-Health approach to solving the challenges of Antimicrobial resistance. Ducit Blue Foundation organizes AMR One health Pan-African internship programs Involving Youth in the mitigation of Antimicrobial Misuse & Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) for one-health professionals. The program reviews and strengthens the One-Health Students Curriculum of Sub-Saharan African Universities, to identify Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) inclusion and training gaps. So far DBF has successfully hosted 2 cohorts and planning is in top gear for the 3rd cohort.

  • 2020-2021 Antimicrobial Resistance One-Health Pan-African Internship/Mentorship Programme: Cohort 1. This cohort was targeted at only pharmacy students and recent graduates, as they play an important role as future medical experts.
  • 2021-2022 Antimicrobial Resistance One-Health Pan-African Internship/Mentorship Programme: Cohort 2. This cohort saw an expansion from cohort 1 to include one-health professionals, including medical doctors, veterinary doctors, microbiology students, pharmacists, and agriculture students. Lastly, the program also included francophone and anglophone students

Advocacy & Awareness

Ducit Blue Foundation uses innovative strategies and campaigns including utilizing social media technologies to increase awareness of AMR, enhance multi-disciplinary One-Health solutions for public engagement and ultimately bridge the knowledge gap across our identified stakeholders to be more responsive to healthcare needs.

Research & Development

Ducit Blue Foundation is passionate about bridging the gap between research to society. One of the means through which DBF develops this is: A part of the One-health Pan-African Internship will be dedicated to equipping young health professionals with research development skills, mainly focusing on Data Analysis as a core part of the curriculum
